Remote Employees
Employed by a company registered outside Malta, working remotely. Employer must confirm remote work arrangement.
Startup Founders
Business owners with a company registered outside Malta generating EUR 42,000+/year in revenue.
Important: You must work for employers or clients based outside Malta. Working for a Maltese company or primarily serving Maltese clients is not permitted under this permit.
Required Documents
Valid passport
Passport with 6+ months validity beyond permit period. Certified true copy required.
Passport-size photos
2 recent passport-size photographs meeting ICAO standards.
Proof of income
Employment contract, client contracts, or business registration + bank statements (last 3-6 months) showing EUR 42,000+/year.
Health insurance
Comprehensive health insurance policy covering Malta for the full duration of stay.
Criminal record certificate
Police clearance from country of nationality AND countries of residence (6+ months) in last 10 years. Must be recent (typically within 6 months).
Proof of accommodation
Rental agreement or property purchase in Malta. Hotel booking may suffice for initial application.
CV / Resume
Current curriculum vitae detailing work experience and qualifications.
Proof of remote work
Letter from employer confirming remote work arrangement, or client contracts for freelancers, or business registration for founders.
