Important: You must work for employers or clients based outside Malta. Working for a Maltese company or primarily serving Maltese clients is not permitted under this permit.

Required Documents

Valid passport

Full copy of all passport pages for each applicant, submitted as one PDF document.

Letter of intent

Signed and dated letter explaining why you want to move to Malta and apply for the Malta Nomad Residence Permit.

Proof of income

Official bank statements for the last 3 months plus work-status documents showing you meet the EUR 42,000 gross annual threshold.

Health insurance

After Approval in Principle, provide a fully comprehensive Malta and international health insurance policy covering 1 full year and the validity of the residence card.

Criminal record certificate

Original police conduct certificate, less than 6 months old at submission, with English translation if required.

Proof of accommodation

After Approval in Principle, provide accommodation covering the full duration of the residence permit. The residence card will be issued with this address.

CV / Resume

Current curriculum vitae detailing work experience and qualifications.

Proof of remote work

Employment contract, client contracts, or company records showing remote work for foreign employers, foreign business interests, or foreign clients.

Verify that you are a third-country remote employee, founder, or freelancer working for entities or clients outside Malta.

Collect the application form, letter of intent, passport copy, CV, bank statements, police conduct certificate, and work-status evidence.

Residency Malta reviews the file after the document check and receipt of funds, and it may ask follow-up questions or extra documents.
