Two Pathways, One Visa

Spain's digital nomad visa covers both employed and self-employed remote workers. Choose based on your work arrangement.

Remote Employee (Trabajador por cuenta ajena)

Employed by a company outside Spain and working remotely using digital means. Public screening also expects at least 3 months of prior relationship, 1 year of foreign-company activity, qualification evidence, and a social-security path.

Processing: 20 business days

Professional Activity / Founder (Actividad profesional)

Self-employed professionals and founders using a foreign company or foreign client base. Spain-side professional activity is allowed only up to 20% of total activity, with the same 3-month relationship, 1-year company, qualification, and social-security requirements.

Processing: 20 business days

Who Qualifies?

🏢

Remote Employees

Working for a foreign employer outside Spain. Public screening also expects at least 3 months of prior relationship, 1 year of foreign-company activity, and qualification evidence.

💻

Freelancers & Founders

Professional-activity branch for self-employed applicants and founders with foreign clients or a foreign company. Spain-side professional activity must stay at or below 20% of the total.

Important: The key requirement is digital remote work tied to entities outside Spain. Employees stay foreign-employer only, while the freelancer / founder branch can include Spain-side professional activity only within the 20% cap.

Required Documents

1

Valid passport

Passport meeting the competent filing post's validity and blank-page requirements.

2

Proof of remote work arrangement
