How to Prove Income for Digital Nomad Visa Applications

Why Income Proof Matters

Most digital nomad visa programs require proof that you can support yourself financially while living in the country. This protects both you and the host country — ensuring you won't become a financial burden and can maintain a comfortable lifestyle.

For Remote Employees

If you're employed by a company, the strongest proof is your employment contract showing your salary, combined with recent bank statements showing regular deposits. A letter from your employer confirming your remote work arrangement and salary adds significant weight.

For Freelancers

Freelancers should provide: active client contracts with stated rates or project values, bank statements showing consistent income over 3-6 months, invoices from clients, and optionally tax returns from the previous year. The key is showing consistent, not just occasional, income.

For Business Owners

Business owners should provide: company registration documents, business bank statements showing revenue, financial statements or P&L, and optionally tax returns. If the business is new, a strong pipeline of contracts or orders can supplement.

Tips for Stronger Applications

Show more than the minimum required period — 6 months of bank statements instead of 3. Include multiple income sources if applicable. Ensure statements clearly show your name and account details. Convert foreign currency amounts to the required currency (usually EUR) using official exchange rates. Keep all documents dated within the last 3 months for the application.
